Understanding the Costs of Permanent Christmas Lighting

Share:

Investing in Permanent Christmas Lighting is a significant step towards adding a consistent touch of beauty and charm to your home. Not only does this system provide a festive look during Christmas seasons, but it also contributes to your home’s security and aesthetic appeal all year round and gives you built-in lighting for all holidays and events. Because the LEDs are long-lasting (rated for 50K hours), this product will actually SAVE you time and money over the long-run, despite being a premium product relative to traditional up-and-down lights. And, we offer financing solutions to spread out the cost of the initial installation.Let’s delve into the key factors influencing these costs and provide some ballpark figures to help guide your planning. Permanent Christmas Lighting is installed along and below your roofline, which means that the total cost of the system—both purchasing and installation—is determined mainly by three factors:

  1. The cost of the lights themselves
  2. The housing for the lights—in our case, the powder-coated aluminum track where the lights are installed
  3. The expense of hiring a skilled technician to install them

All these factors can be quantified on a “per linear foot” basis, which means the total linear footage of lighting you want on your home will largely determine the cost. It’s important to note that the square footage of your home only provides a very rough estimation of the cost because different styles and features of houses can significantly impact the linear footage required. As such, it’s necessary for us to visit and measure your roofline—a service we’re more than happy to offer at no charge! It’s also worth mentioning that occasionally, special requirements such as custom track designs or the need for a boom lift can result in additional charges. However, these aren’t common occurrences. In terms of price ranges, most of our Permanent Christmas Lighting installations fall between $2,500 and $5,500. We typically charge between $20 and $26 per linear foot, depending on the time of year. Fall is our busiest season, so for the best rates, consider planning your purchase in late winter, spring, or summer. When comparing our system with others, consider these critical differences that directly affect the value and price:

  • Lifetime of the LEDs: Our system is rated for 50,000 hours, unlike some manufacturers, like Jellyfish, that offer only 30,000 hour LEDs.
  • True Warm White: Our LEDs offer a true warm white diode for the exact accent lighting look you want, something not all competitors provide. Neither Trimlight, Jellyfish, or other cheap alternatives have this diode.
  • Safety Certifications: Our lights are UL listed and ETL/CSA certified, providing assurance of safety and compatibility with home warranties and insurances.
  • Number of LEDs per light: Our lights have 3 RGBW LEDs per bulb, offering a brightness of 23 lumens per bulb. Some competitors only provide 1 LED per light with a brightness of 7-8 lumens. Trimlight only offers a single LED and is much too dim for nightly accent lighting.
  • Warranty: We offer a 5-year manufacturer warranty. Other products may have much shorter warranties (Jellyfish at 1 year) or unrealistic “lifetime” warranties  (Trimlight) that are not be sustainable for the company, potentially leaving you without ANY warranty coverage down the line.

In summary, our Permanent Christmas Lighting system is a luxury product that enhances your home’s appearance every night of the year, and it’s a one-time investment that will last many years with minimal additional cost on your part. Like a sprinkler system, it’s an upfront investment that saves time and money in the long run—and it’s a lot of fun! Think of your home standing out in the neighborhood, all lit up year-round.
