Professional hanging services in our markets typically charge $500 to $1,500 per season for supply, installation, mid-season fixes, and takedown, and the invoice repeats every year, usually climbing a little as labor costs do. Our permanent installations mostly run $2,000 to $5,000 once, installed, warrantied, taxes and fees included.

Year one, the hanging service wins on price and it is not close. Around year three to five, the lines cross. Every season after that, your lights cost you nothing but electricity, which is a few dollars a month, while the hanging customers on your street write the same check again. If you have already paid a hanging crew twice, you have effectively made the down payment on a permanent system and received nothing permanent for it.

Why We Do Not Hang Seasonal Strands
An honest answer, because we get asked: we warranty everything we install for years, lifetime on bulbs and a decade on parts. Seasonal strands cannot be warrantied that way; they are built to be handled, hauled, and rehung until they fail. Hanging them well is a genuine skill, but it is a six-week-a-year business that ends every January with the product in a box.

Every install is covered by the warranty that makes the whole model work: lifetime bulbs, 10-year parts, 3-year labor. There is no season warranty because there is no season; there is just the system, working.

Fall is our busiest season and installation calendars fill from September forward. If you want lights on for Thanksgiving, book the consultation early; if you are reading this in spring or summer, you have found the secret: off-season installs get our best pricing and first pick of dates, and your system will simply be ready when the Christmas season arrives.

Do you take the lights down after the holidays?
There is nothing to take down. The system is permanent, nearly invisible during the day, and most customers run warm white accent settings year-round.
Will you hang lights I already own?
No. We install and warranty our permanent system only, because a decade-long warranty is impossible to honor on store-bought strands.
How fast can you install before Christmas?
Most homes are one-day installs, but fall calendars fill early. September bookings are the safe play; December is sometimes possible and never guaranteed.
Is this more expensive than a hanging service?
In year one, yes. By year three to five the one-time cost catches up to the repeating invoices, and every season after that is free. The math is in the table above.
What do the lights look like in July?
Off and nearly invisible: the track is color matched to your soffit and fascia. On, in warm white, they read as architectural accent lighting, not Christmas lights.
Who does the installation?
Our own employed and trained crews in every market we serve, backed by a full-time office. Every installer is fully vetted and trained in Astoria’s proven installation methods, and the person who answers the phone in year eight works for the company that installed your lights.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes: 25 percent down with the balance at installation, and third-party financing for those who want to spread the one-time cost across months instead of paying seasonal invoices forever.
What if I only want lights for December and nothing the rest of the year?
That works fine. Schedule the system to run only in December and it will sit invisible the other eleven months. Most customers start that way and discover the warm white settings within the first year.
Can you match the display my hanging service used to do?
Usually, and often better: classic warm white or multicolor rooflines, icicle effects, and alternating patterns are all presets. What a roofline system does not replace is wrapped trees and garland; if that is essential to your look, a seasonal service is the better fit.
Do the lights work in freezing weather and storms?
We install the lights in a color-matched aluminum track, made out of the same material that your gutters are made from. We depth-match the track to the way your soffit is built, so that the lights slightly protrude from the track below the fascia. They are unnoticeable from the street unless you are looking for them.
