Permanent Christmas Lights, Professionally Installed

Permanent Christmas lights are LED lighting systems installed once along your roofline and controlled from your phone for every holiday and every ordinary evening after that. No ladders, no tangled strands, no takedown in January. We have installed permanent lights on houses across Texas, Georgia, and Utah since 2019, and this page covers everything we get asked in consultations: how the system works, what it costs, how it compares to traditional lights, and what installation looks like.

The Basics

What Are Permanent Christmas Lights?

Permanent Christmas lights are professionally installed LED lights that stay on your home year-round. The lights sit inside a low-profile aluminum track mounted under your roofline, color matched to your trim so the system is nearly invisible during the day. Each LED changes color from an app, so the same lights handle Christmas, Halloween, game days, and everyday accent lighting.

They go by several names: permanent holiday lights, permanent roofline lighting, permanent eave lights, or track lighting systems. Different names, same idea, and the same promise. You climb a ladder zero more times.

The Whole Calendar

One System, Every Holiday

The word Christmas is in the name, but December is about six weeks of what these lights do. A permanent holiday lighting system covers the whole calendar from the same track.

Christmas

Classic red and green, candy cane patterns, icicle effects, or elegant all-white.

Halloween

Orange and purple, with animated effects if your street is into it.

July 4th, Memorial Day, Veterans Day

Red, white, and blue.

Valentine’s, St. Patrick’s, Easter, Diwali, Hanukkah

Every palette is a preset away.

Game Day

Your team’s exact colors, on before kickoff (Austin: burnt orange; College Station: maroon; Atlanta: red and black).

Birthdays and Parties

Any theme, any color, saved as a scene you can rerun every year.

Switching displays takes seconds in the app. Most of our customers schedule the whole year once and let the calendar run itself.

The Other 300 Nights

Permanent Outdoor Lights You Use All Year

The upgrade nobody expects to love most: what the lights do the other 300 nights. Set to a true warm white, permanent outdoor lights become architectural accent lighting, tracing your rooflines, peaks, and columns the way high-end landscape lighting does, from a system you already own. Common everyday uses our customers set up in the first week:

Nightly Curb Appeal

A soft warm white outline on the front elevation, scheduled from sunset to bedtime.

Peaks and Corners Only

Because every light is individually controllable, you can light just the architectural details and leave the rest dark.

Security and Visibility

Motion-free, consistent light around entries and dark sides of the house, bright enough to enhance visibility without harsh glare.

Patio Evenings

A dim warm setting over the back porch that provides gentle, ambient accent lighting for evening relaxing.

This is the difference between permanent lights on your house and a decoration: one earns its place in July.

What Is In It

The System We Install

We are the largest independent permanent holiday lighting provider in North America, and we install the system we would put on our own homes. What is in it:

True Warm White LEDs

Our RGB-WW diodes include a dedicated 2800K warm white chip, producing a genuine incandescent-style white. Cheaper RGB-only systems fake white by mixing colors and it reads purple-ish and cold. You will run warm white more than any other setting, so this is the spec that matters most.

Individually Addressable Lights

Every LED is independently controllable: whole-house patterns, alternating colors, or just the peaks lit and everything else off.

Color-Matched Aluminum Track

The channel is powder coated to match your soffit and fascia, which is why the system disappears during the day. We offer a fully enclosed track that encases the wiring and protects it from sun, water, and pests, and an open track where it suits the roofline or where budget is the priority. We will show you both at the consultation and recommend the one your house calls for.

Smart Control From Anywhere

Schedules, sunrise and sunset automation, zones, hundreds of preset patterns, and custom scenes, all from the app. The system also connects to Alexa and Google Home.

Built for Real Weather

Sealed IP68 weatherproof connections, operating range from -40F to over 130F, UV-stable components, ETL certified for the US and Canada.

50,000-Hour LEDs

At typical use, expect 20+ years from one installation.

Real Pricing

What Permanent Christmas Lights Cost

We publish our pricing because you should not need a sales visit to learn a number. Permanent Christmas light installation is priced by the linear foot of roofline: $18 to $24 per linear foot, plus $250 to $450 for the controller and power supply. Most of our installations land between $2,000 and $5,000 all-in, taxes and fees included, installed in a day and fully warrantied. We take 25% down, and third-party financing is available.

Roofline length, not square footage, drives the price, which is why two similar houses can quote differently. For cost by home size, what drives quotes up or down, and the DIY math, see the full permanent Christmas lights cost guide.

The Process

How Professional Installation Works

Permanent Christmas light installation is a one-day job for most homes. The process:

1

Free Design Consultation

We measure your roofline, look at trim colors, and talk through how you will actually use the lights: holidays only, nightly accents, or both.

2

Fixed Quote

Priced from the measurement. The number we quote is the number you pay.

3

Installation Day

Our crew mounts the color-matched track, encloses and hides all wiring, and connects the controller. Every installer we send is fully vetted and trained in Astoria’s proven installation methods. Most homes are finished the same day.

4

Walkthrough and Setup

Before we leave, the app is on your phone, your first scenes are saved, and your schedule is running.

Every installation is backed by a lifetime warranty on bulbs, a 10-year bumper-to-bumper warranty on all installed parts, and a 3-year service warranty on labor. If anything misbehaves, we have got your back, and you are calling the company that installed the system rather than hunting for whoever hung your lights three seasons ago.

Independent Since 2019

Why Homeowners Choose Astoria

We have been installing permanent lighting since 2019, before most of the market existed, and we are the largest independent provider in North America. Independent matters: we are not a franchise fulfilling a corporate playbook. Our own employed and trained crews handle every installation, our office staff is full time, and the person who answers the phone in year eight works for the same company that installed your lights.

We started installing permanent lighting in 2019, before most homeowners had heard of it, and we have stayed independent since. Every crew we send is vetted and trained in our own installation methods, and the office that answers the phone in year eight is the same one that designed your system. We built the company that way so there is one company accountable for the whole thing, from the design visit through the warranty.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

20+ years for a quality, professionally installed system. The LEDs are rated for 50,000 hours; what determines lifespan is the track, wiring, and connectors, which is why installation quality matters at least as much as the bulb spec.

From the street, no. The track is color matched to your soffit and fascia and sits in the shadow line of the roof. Daytime invisibility is the reason HOAs rarely object.

Almost always, and we provide the photos, spec sheets, and insurance documents your architectural review board will ask for.

Yes. True warm white on a schedule is how most of our customers run the system 300 nights a year. It reads as architectural lighting, not Christmas lights.

A few dollars a month at heavy use. The entire roofline draws about as much power as one old incandescent bulb.

Lifetime on bulbs, 10 years bumper-to-bumper on installed parts, and 3 years on labor. After the labor period ends, parts stay covered and service calls are billable, and you are still calling the company that installed the system.

It is our own system, built to our specification and installed and supported by us. Our own employed and trained crews do the installation, and our warranty is the one that covers you.

Almost all of them. The track mounts to your fascia and soffit, not the roofing material, so shingle, metal, and tile homes all work. Rooflines without a conventional eave are handled with alternative mounting details we design during the consultation.

Yes, and two-story homes are where permanent lights make the strongest case, because those are the rooflines nobody should be reaching from a ladder every December. Pricing stays per linear foot; height affects the install day, not the price structure.

You call us and we replace it, covered by the lifetime bulb warranty. Each light is an individual unit with a threaded weatherproof cap, so a swap takes minutes and never affects the rest of the run.

Yes. The app works from anywhere, so you can run the schedule on vacation, turn everything on from the airport, or set an away scene that makes the house look lived in.
